I am a postdoctoral research associate at the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) at the University of Maryland. I am now looking for a postdoctoral position.

While working at University of Maryland, I led the Small Autonomous Energy Systems Consortium in CEEE. I supervised the students’ research on truck anti-idling technologies and conducted field tests of residential CHP systems. I also designed and built a test facility to test the transient performance of a secondary loop automobile air conditioning system which can employ hydrocarbon as refrigerants. I am also responsible for writing proposal for the California Energy Commission (Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program).

Before I came to the United States, I worked for Panasonic’s research and development center in Shanghai. There, I was responsible for the heat exchanger experimental works to validate the 3-D numerical solver developed by cut-cell method. I also designed and supervised construction of the heat exchanger wind tunnel test rig to carry out the Wilson plot test and OCR (oil concentration rate) test for the CO2 heat pump system.

My Ph.D. thesis work was in the area of waste heat-driven solid adsorption coolers and heat pumps. My specific research topic was the enhancement of heat and mass transfer adsorbent and the combination of heat pipes to adsorption refrigeration and heat pump systems. At Shanghai Jiao Tong University, I accomplished original research work in pursuit of my degree, as well as contributed to the development of a novel double-heat pipe type adsorption chiller system. Based on these works, I published three papers in the international journals such as International Journal of Refrigeration, Energy Conversion & Management and Renewable Energy. I have filed two patents on this system in China.

My email is sywangkai@hotmail.com

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards,

Kai Wang
